The Queen’s Gambit was a Netflix sensation during the Pandemic in 2020. Every so often, a chess movie captures the imagination of the world and this one certainly did just that. Newcomer Anya Talor-Joy, who played the adult Beth Harmon as the unlikely female chess savant from the Midwest who would go on to dominate the chess scene in the late 1960's. We watch Beth develop from early childhood-though-adulthood in a less-than-awesome home life. This is a must-watch mini series for anyone who loves the underdogs in life.
