The Dynasty: New England Patriots (AppleTV+)

Director: Matthew Hamacheck (2024)

Cast: Tom Brady, Bill Belichick, Robert Kraft

If you love a sports documentary with a lot of drama The Dynasty: New England Patriots is just what the doctor ordered. We all know how it ends, but how it really started and the process of multiple dynasties 10 years apart is fascinating to watch.

The New England Patriots have been villainized for decades and Tom Brady has been mocked for all his wealth, beautiful wives and his winning ways. This 10-part documentary is well-written and directed and lets many of the main characters expose all the warts behind-the-scenes footage culled from 35,000 hours of available footage. They used 70 primary sources in and around the Patriots orbit to tell a not-so-flattering story at times.

The main thing the viewer will take away (love or hate) is Brady and Belichick’s work ethic and competitive desire. Brady is known for his 24-7 attention to detail and excellence and Belichick worked his teams so hard, they hated him at times. They also appreciated what it took to be a “New England Patriot”

Fun Fact:

Brady (Michigan QB) roomed with David Nugent (Purdue defender) and they share some never-before-seen footage of their accommodations. You have to see the footage of young Tom Brady playing video games and their competitive desire right from the start.
