Any Given Sunday

Director: Oliver Stone (1999)

Cast: Al Pacino, Dennis Quade, Cameron Diaz, Jamie Foxx, Jim Brown, LL Cool J

Ann-Margret, Matthew Modine

This is a fast-paced overly-dramatic Al Pacino vehicle. The story is tried and true. No big surprises, but well-wriiten and directed by Oliver Stone. Worth a watch.

Oliver Stone's Hollywood take on the world of Professional Football. The Fictional Miiami Sharks are a team under fire. The owner of the team has died, leaving the team to his daughter, who is in way over her head. The star Quarterback gets knocked out of the game and an unknown third-stringer is called in to replace him. The unknown gives a stunning performance and forces the burned out head-coach to reevaluate his game plans and life as he tries to get his team back to the playoffs.

Fun facts: The League and teams had different names, but NFL legends Johnny Unitas, Dick Butkus and Warren Moon played opposing head coaches.

Legendary running back Jim Brown plays Montezuma Monroe, head coach Tony D'Amato's most trusted assistant coach. Another NFL legend, Lawrence Taylor showed off his acting chops as well.
